Understanding EB-5 visa processing times — CanAm COO to participate on industry panel focused on life-cycle of USCIS adjudications

CanAm’s Christine Chen to share insights on investors’ top concern

New York, NY — What factors are behind the processing wait times for EB-5 visas, what are their implications and what is being done to speed up adjudication for green cards and the alphabet soup of U.S. immigration-related paperwork? These and other questions will be explored next week in San Diego during a special industry panel on which CanAm Chief Operating Officer, Christine Chen, will serve. The panel, “The Waiting Game: Processing Times, Visa Availability & Set Asides,”  takes the stage at the IIUSA EB-5 Industry Forum on Tuesday, May 23 , from 9:00 am – 10:00 am (PST). The forum features three days of breakout sessions devoted to EB-5 policy, immigration business development and education.

Moderated by Lee Li, Director of Policy Research & Data Analytics for IIUSA, Ms. Chen’s fellow panelists include two esteemed EB-5 industry experts: Suzanne Lazicki, Principal at Lucid Professional Writing; and Kyle Walker, the CEO of the Green Card Fund.

“Waiting times for EB-5 visas and green cards times are universally among the biggest concerns of investors and potential investors, but they’re also ones that CanAm cannot directly address,” Ms. Chen said, adding that adjudication of EB-5 applications and paperwork is under the purview of USCIS.  “While we cannot directly intervene to improve processing times, CanAm can advocate for our investors, work to identify ways to ease backlogs, and keep them informed on the progress being made to shorten wait times. I look forward to hearing from experts closely following wait time issues and discussing how timing affects both EB-5 offerings and redeployment strategies,” she said.

Ms. Chen is active with the IIUSA, serving as a member of its board of directors. Ms. Chen joined CanAm in 2002 and has helped shape the firm’s strategic initiatives and operational efficiencies. In her current role, she oversees several distinct EB-5 business functions and management of over 40 staff members worldwide.
