Rueven Michelson is a seasoned real estate investment and asset management professional with over two decades of experience in underwriting, structuring, and managing multi-million-dollar commercial real estate transactions. Prior to CanAm, Rueven served as Director and Head of Asset Management at Pembrook Capital Management and oversaw a portfolio exceeding $500 million in loans across 96 properties, driving strategic initiatives to enhance performance, mitigate risk, and maximize value.
As Director an Senior Underwriter at Pembrook, Rueven specialized in multifamily and commercial loan underwriting, with a focus on affordable and Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH) across key U.S. markets, including New York, Florida, and California. His expertise spans LIHTC housing, due diligence, credit analysis, and transaction structuring.
Prior to Pembrook, Rueven was a Director at True North Management Group, where he managed financial and operational aspects of distressed commercial real estate acquisitions, including office, industrial, multi-family, and hospitality assets. He also provided strategic investment and risk consulting through RM Consulting, contributing to major transactions such as a $1 billion debt purchase for a REIT and the privatization of a national real estate company.
His earlier roles include Vice President at GSC Group, where he structured high-yield debt transactions, and Senior Underwriter at Merrill Lynch’s Global Principal Investments, specializing in balance sheet lending and CMBS large-loan underwriting for transactions exceeding $1 billion.
Rueven began his career in real estate appraisal, earning his MAI designation and developing a strong foundation in property valuation and market analysis. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Syracuse University.
